I am literally obsessed with this show.
This is their best music video so far this season, and Max Adler’s cameo is just genius.
Love them :’)

After an absent Kurt and Blaine in last night’s episode of Glee, the show will return next week for an all out wild weekend for the Gleeks. And I have to say, I’m pretty pissed.
Judging by the promo, the creators of the show have gone out of their way to have Lea Michele kiss every new hot guy that comes onto the show. Case in point, next week’s episode Blame it on the Alcohol focuses on the Gleeks getting their party on with Kurt and Blaine in tow. A game of Spin the Bottle later, and Rachel and Blaine are getting their mack on.
As we all know Darren Criss is straight but seeing as how the creators have promoted the hell out of the fact that he is some ‘gay’ role model, let’s just hope that this act actually serves the show and isn’t some stunt to add some drama. And we ALL know that if Blaine turns straight, Ryan Murphy will never see the light of day again.
The promo in question after the jump:
Last night on Glee, Ryan Murphy has finally began storylines that viewers can actually get interested in! Warning: Spoiler alert –
Following Kurt’s departure from McKinley, New Directions goes off into Sectionals and judging by the promos they will be covering no other than Florence and the Machine’s breakout hit, ‘Dog Days Are Over’. We should also see the Hipsters for the first time and the Dalton Warblers with Kurt perform Train’s ‘Hey Soul Sister’. Looks like it’s going to be one exciting episode!
So I’m really pumped after watching the LATEST glee episode: The Substitute, starring the beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow. Therefore I have decided that after doing an intense amount of posts showing my Gleekness, I think it’s time to do, that’s right, you guessed it:
MY FIRST REVIEW OF GLEE!
Here it goes – spoiler alert, I will mention the plot of the episode, if you’re one of those people that screams when they hear spoilers look away, if you’re like me & believe spoilers enhance your viewing pleasure, enjoy!
Let’s start from the beginning,
Jane Lynch is back as the EVIL Sue Sylvester, personally I hate it when they try to humanize her character. The sister storyline is great but when that interrupts her utter disdain for Will, everything is just…awkward. So her conniving ways to get herself Principal of McKinley was pretty tricky, making Figgins sick, blackmailing officials so that she would become head honcho. Hopefully I hope the writers don’t make this permanent, I love Iqbal Theba’s part as the Principal and with Sue in that role, most of her foil will be gone – and where’s the fun in that?
The show started off strong with the impossibly cute kid versions of the entire glee club that Mr. Shue hallucinates. I was disappointed they didn’t use this to their full effect. I only burst out laughing at little Mike Chang’s statement of his only real role:
Baby Mike Chang: “I just want to dance.”
Of course, with Mr. Shue sick, Terri’s back. Yay?! I seriously hate her character, even from the first episode you knew she was a pain. Her storyline in this did nothing to justify why she returned. Oh great, her and Will slept together, he won’t take her back STILL and she gives him one last chance. Didn’t this all happen last season? The writers really need to step up if they want us to have any sympathy for Will. Sure he’s a great teacher, but he’s a total “manwhore” in the words of Sue and I find his escapades with women really do him no justice to deserve Ms. Emma Pilsbury.
But I digress, let’s go back to the episode. One of the duller storylines included Mercedes going crazy for some tater tots because she’s eating her feelings over feel abandoned by Kurt and his new “friend” Blaine. Really? I mean it’s not too much of a stretch when we’ve seen before how strongly Mercedes reacts to Kurt but I thought this was a really weakening storyline for her. I hate how the writers only focus on her ‘black’ and ‘fat’, I think Amber Riley has a lot more to bring to the table and this plot just didn’t fit it. And was anyone else disappointed with Darren Criss’ 2nd appearance? He didn’t do much and basically did not have to be there. Let’s hope they use him better next episode.
However what made this episode truly amazing was the guest star we’d all been waiting for: Gwyneth Paltrow.
I must admit, I was a little wary as to her comedic chops. I never really liked Paltrow to begin with and that only started to fade after watching the Iron Man movies. But from that first inner monologue with that monotone voice she was gold.
Holly Holiday: “It’s not easy being a substitute teacher, kids feel like they get a day off . They’ll goof off, egg your car, cut class, break into your car, throw spitballs, throw alligators in your car. And I don’t even have a nice car.”
Wouldn’t everyone want a teacher like Holly Holiday. She gives students answers, she’s fun, she gets Taco Bell for everyone, and she tells the annoying know-it-alls they suck. I think I’m in love 🙂
The realism of the Glee Club welcoming their new substitute was to DIE for as well. I love it when the writers just show the club having fun rather than being losers and hating life. And can someone please just give Artie some praise? His attempts at being black are hilarious especially when you least expect them.
Beiste is also such a great character. She may look strange but she’s funny.
Beiste: “This is not up for discussion fellas. You do NOT spray athlete’s foot medicine in your team mates eyes, COME ON!”
Now onto the songs: –
Paltrow’s rendition of ‘Forget You’ was fun, sure. Not amazing though. I loved the energy and the cuts back to Rachel’s hatred. And she’s a pretty good singer.
Schue’s Make ‘Em Laugh felt forced. The beginning was cute but a few seconds more into it and I felt awkward watching it. He likes Singin’ in the Rain, we get it. You don’t need to throw it down our throats.
Nowadays from Chicago was fun to watch. Yet awkward AGAIN. No one wants to see a teacher and student dance provocatively together. Although I have to give it bonus points cause I love me some Chicago.
Umbrella/Singin’ in the Rain was beautiful. Seriously if they performed this at Sectionals, they’d WIN! Although I have to minus marks for not letting the Glee club even sing, cause you know, it’s kinda they’re club
Overall a solid episode musically but storywise they still need to work on it. However, I really feel the season’s picking up finally. Going by the 3 Glees theory which I believe is absolutely correct, I’d say this was Ian Brennan’s doing, just because of the weird tots plot but otherwise, he’s improving 🙂
Oh and before I forget, award for best running joke in episode:
Random Glee member: “Sir I was wondering if we could do ‘insert modern song’?’
Mr. Schue: “No. But listen up guys, I’ve found a new Journey song we haven’t done yet. YAY!”
Glee, oh how I hate thee…
Judging by the premiere episode for Season 2, all it seems to look forward to this season is the Regionals (which New Directions will DEFINITELY get in – there has to be some story right?), the themed episodes (excited for next episode!) and finally the guest stars.
And yes there ARE stars.
Firstly, I’d like to apologize for the ample posts on GLEE, but these days, the casting announcements ARE breaking news. Yes, you read the title correctly, Darren Criss aka Harry Potter of Youtube sensation ‘A Very Potter Musical’ and it’s sequel ‘A Very Potter Sequel’ is to star on GLEE! (sitting front row in picture above)
Once you’ve recovered from your blackout, it gets even better. Previously I imagined that Chord Overstreet, better known as the guy who sung Billionaire with the tennis ball mouth on the premiere episode seemed to be the likely candidate for Kurt Hummel’s much anticipated boyfriend. However, according to reports, Darren Criss is to play such a character (pause for effect).
Indeed, Criss will play Blaine, a gay student from a rival glee club (thankfully not Vocal Adrenaline) named the Dalton Academy Warblers, and will become a love interest for Kurt. Although I would’ve liked Criss to play a love interest to Quinn Fabray, his appearance in GLEE is enough to renew my interest in the second season, which seems to be focused solely on getting famous people to just walk on. Although Criss could be considered a celebrity to Potter fans, in actual fact he is not. Wikipedia-ing him will get you nowhere and the only mention of him is his short-lived role on the even shorter lived Eastwick and his fanpages from Potter fanatics.
Here’s hoping this news isn’ t just a rumour, because this role could finally get Criss the recognition he deserves. Frankly though I think the entire Potter Musical cast deserves their own show, Criss’ involvement in a major Hollywood show is a good start. He practically wrote all the music for the Youtube musicals and has a great voice, so we’ll have to wait and see if his role on GLEE will get him an even larger fanbase as it did for Jonathan Groff as Jesse St. James.
For those of you in the dark on who Darren Criss actually is, here’s the musicals which has made him famous on the interweb. It’s perfomed by Team Starkid, students at the University of Michigan. The first video is the original musical while the second is it’s recent sequel. Prepare to lose a couple of days 🙂
Fashion Highlights from the EMMYS 2010.
Of course at any award show the celebrities ALWAYS have to dress their best. And at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. in California there was no exception. I’ve looked at the arrivals for the Emmys and I’ve decided to just put up the ones I thought looked the best on the night. What do you think?
One of my favourites of the night, Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera
It’s all about the Glee, Jayma Mays in Burberry
The dress itself isn’t that amazing, but the fact that Jane Lynch looks great is why she made the list.
January Jones in Versace – did anyone else see her sitting next to Jason Sudeikis in the front row? 😀 BEST COUPLE EVER!
Christina Hendricks in Zac Posen – she totally deserved that Sexiest Women title, WOW. However, the dress itself is not that great especially the tassles, but she looks gorgeous as usual.
Kevin McHale in Burberry, looking adorable 😀
Chris Colfer in Emporio Armani. It’s official I have a crush on him.
The host Jimmy Fallon in Tom Ford with his lovely wife
One of the prettiest couples in my opinion. Claire Danes in Armani Prive (one of my favorite lines for the Red Carpet ) and her husband Hugh Dancy in Burberry
Overall – The suits and dresses were better than usual but I felt underwhelmed by all the fashion in general. Let’s hope the Oscars in February will be different.
Which look was your favourite?
So I wasn’t allowed to stay up past 4AM -.-
Luckily though, I forced my parents to let me watch the opening number. And all I can say is: WOW! 😀 I literally beamed when the show started and ROFLed to my hearts content. Jimmy Fallon was a great host and the Glee inspired opening really got everything started. And I can’t seem to stop myself from falling for Chris Colfer, it’s too bad he’s gay, he just oozes charisma and he looks amazing.
The random bunch who performed ‘Born to Run’ by Bruce Springsteen was also genious: Glee Cast members (Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Lea Michelle, Cory Monteith, the great Jane Lynch), Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, Hurley from Lost, Joel McHale and Nina Dobrev (her appearance was a little surprising seeing how The Vampire Diaries wasn’t nominated for ANYTHING, but i guess she’s just that popular :P). The random cameos by Kate Gosselin, Tim Gunn and Randy Jackson on bass tied everything together, but according to most reviews that seemed to be the highlight of the show which is disappointing seeing as how for every award show, the opening is the only thing that I seem to love. That and the red carpet.
Here’s the opening, prepare to smile like crazy :):

For all you Gleeks that don’t already know, filming for season 2 of the UBER popular Glee has begun. With that of course comes a slew of new guest stars, one of which seems to be causing the most hype. That is: Ms. Britney Spears.
Spoiler for Season 2: There will be a whole episode dedicated solely to Britney Spear’s music, much like The Power of Madonna episode of the first season. In it, Heather Morris as her breakout character of Brittany will be the main focus of the episode. Not much is known of it besides that the scene where Spears will appear, Brittany will be undergoing a hallucinogenic dream which will recreate the Me Against The Music video between Britney and Madonna, with Britney fulfilling Madonna’s role.
With Matthew Morrison’s (Will Schuester) public cry to not have Spears music on the show, Ryan Murphy (creator of Glee) has announced that the episode will also show Mr. Shue’s resistance to doing Spears music on the show.
To keep us interested in the episode, Britney Spears herself released a photo from the set with Morris on her Twitter.
For all you Gleeks 🙂
